WORK REQUIREMENTS |

| As a student abroad you can work while you study. However, because you are in a foreign country you need to follow the specific rules set forth by the host government. |

Students are eligible work up to 20 hours a week when school is in session on a student visa.
Students are eligible to work in New Zealand if they are attending a full-time program at least 2 years in length for up to 16 hours a week. Information on how to obtain a work permit can be found at the university international office.
If you are on a course that is six months or more you will automatically be given a "Code 2" stamp with your entry clearance that indicates you are entitled to work with restrictions, meaning you can work for no more than 20 hours a week.
Students are eligible to work 20 hours a week. An immigration officer will be brought onto campus the week before classes begin and students will be given student visas at this time. If you plan to work your visa will be amended at this time, to allow you to gain legal employment. |
